A simple 2D space trader with pseudo orbital physics.

So this is my current project, I've been working on it since August 2015 and I'm hoping to release it at some point in 2017.

Here's the current work-in-progress

My aim is to update this post each week to explain my progress and post the odd demo and video and screenie. All feedback is appreciated.

The game will have the following features:

  • Random worlds - each play-through has different challenges, worlds and moons to explore.
  • 2D, multi-body, orbital physics - perform gravity sling shots and travel between different planets.
  • Light RPG elements - as you progress you upgrade your ship's abilities, complete quests and discuss life in the stars with your crew.

The game is set in a randomly generated solar system. Each random system can be recreated by entering a seed at the start of the game. You start by designing your ship by selecting five specialised segments.

There are three resources in the game:

  • Fuel - 
  • Oxygen - 
  • Power - 

There are the two currencies:

  • Cash - for purchasing additional ship modules
  • Research - to improve the performance of existing ship modules

For example the Factory segment consumes Power and Raw Materials and produces Products and Waste. The Recycler consumes Power and Waste and produces Raw Materials. By combining segments you can optimise the performance of your space craft.
