I made a small update to the rules in my original post here in this thread. The changes were made to un-restrict the gamejam and to open it up to anyone who wants to participate.

I have a artist friend who wants to help so can anyone give me any engines that can help him fully use his skills but can still help me complete the game by the deadline?

RageMunkey24: Definitely Construct 2. No programming needed. You can get a limited version of it for free (allows for 100 events, last time I checked, which is sufficient for not-so-elaborate games like pong, breakout, and even platformers). The paid version is expensive, but worth every penny.

I've got another video for y'all!: http://youtu.be/7I8nugzuolo

Been working on it all day. I think I'm gonna try out Rogue Legacy now. I'll definitely be spending all day tomorrow on it since I have the weekend off from work.

Wheres everyone at? Just over a week till the deadline, so show your stuff! I decided to take a crack at AGK...JUST got it like a few days ago so still learning the language, but it was super easy to get scrolling backgrounds and a jumping dude. On to the enemies!

I have never been able to prototype a game and use boxes and circles and things like a lot of people do.. it would probably make my life a lot easier, because I spend a ton of time on art, design, layout and all. And of course, like my splashes and rain, code reuseability =D stole both of those particle systems from Coastal Glide.. Since it has encounters at sea, well.. a few minor tweaks and there ya go! Now to figure out my shark.. I want a good sprite, but one thats actually free to use..

Ok, I have mine to a point where it can be uploaded and played. How do we go about this? Are we waiting till the 24th? First and foremost it will be hosted on my website so I can post a link to it. But are we going to have a thread with all the links to peoples games, etc or is there going to be another way of see who is all in this?

Good point.. mines playable, but I want to add some more stuff.. pause button, title screen, change the scoring a bit.. but when its ready, well.. I guess I will likely just post it to my website.. need to figure out an installer since its xna based..

I use the Clickteam install maker for my Visual Basic programs at work. Might work for your xna game.

If you can host it on your site that would be great. I'll make alist of all participants sometime this weekend. We'll post it, and our links, as edits to the original post for this thread.

Edit: Don't forget to create a game page for it here on Game Dev Underground!

I have holed myself indoors all day today getting closer and closer to finishing my game. I have done almost no artwork so far, as I've been working on the mechanics of the game. Just started working on actual levels. Will begin work on the power-up system soon.

If I'm lucky, I'll be working on artwork all day Wednesday before I upload the final product. Unfortunately there are some bugs that have eluded me through the entire process so far. I'm pretty sure this game will be very buggy. But hopefully it will also be fun!

How should we vote for a winner? I'd like to present a prize to the top 3, but we need a way to determine the winners.
